Leaving a mark through movement

Sports balls have a history that is both physical and momentous. Painting with a sports ball provides a space to visually reflect on the marks they make.

Paralympians

Every athlete has a story. While the competitions are momentous, the feelings from them are lasting. Painting with a sports ball imprints these moments to immortalize and reflect the feelings felt in relation to them.

The Paralympic collection centres on Team Canada athletes that participated at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. This collection was made to cheer on the athletes as they went to another country during a pandemic without family.

As a physically disabled artist, I made this series to present the different ways sports can adapt and support athletes. It was also made to reflect sports and its ability to be versatile and inclusive.

The paintings were made using gouache and aryclic paint on either Fabriano paper or canvas paper. Prints of these artworks are for sale. They come in a range of sizes ( 2.5" x 4", 11" x 14", 12" x 18", 24" x 36" etc.) and material (stickers, semi-gloss and matte paper).
